Bitumen Grade 60/70

FSiix Resources sources and trades Penetration Grade Bitumen 60/70, a straight-run paving bitumen produced by controlled vacuum distillation of crude petroleum residue — a process that yields a consistent, thermoplastic binder without the further oxidation required by blown grades. Refinery-direct and quality-certified against ASTM D946, EN 12591, and AASHTO M20, our Bitumen 60/70 is engineered for hot mix asphalt base and wearing courses, airport runways, and waterproofing applications, and is supplied worldwide in drums, jumbo bags, flexitanks, and bulk tanker or vessel consignments.

OVERVIEW

Refinery-Direct Paving Bitumen, Consistently Graded

FSiix's bitumen programme is built on refinery-direct sourcing of Penetration Grade Bitumen 60/70, produced by controlled vacuum distillation of long residue from crude petroleum. Unlike oxidized (blown) grades, 60/70 is a straight-run product drawn directly from the distillation column, giving it a stable, homogeneous composition suited to consistent field performance.

Bitumen 60/70's balance of hardness and flexibility — neither too soft nor too brittle — makes it the most widely specified penetration grade for hot mix asphalt base and wearing courses. Every consignment FSiix trades is produced and certified to ASTM D946, EN 12591, and AASHTO M20, and moves from refinery to port under continuous temperature-controlled handling to preserve its penetration and softening-point properties.

HOW IT'S PRODUCED

From Crude Residue to Certified Paving Bitumen

FSiix's bitumen supply runs under continuous refinery quality control and temperature-managed logistics, from vacuum distillation through to certified, export-ready bitumen.

01 — FEED PREPARATION

Atmospheric & Vacuum Distillation

Crude petroleum is first processed through atmospheric distillation to remove lighter fractions, then the long residue is fed to a vacuum distillation unit. Controlled temperature and vacuum draw off the heavier fractions, leaving a straight-run bitumen base with the target penetration characteristics of the 60/70 grade.

02 — GRADE CONTROL

Penetration & Softening-Point Control

The straight-run bitumen is drawn from the vacuum column and continuously monitored for penetration, softening point, and flash point, with process parameters adjusted in real time to hold the finished product within the 60–70 (0.1mm) penetration band without the further air-blowing used for harder oxidized grades.

03 — QUALITY CONTROL & DISPATCH

Batch Testing & Temperature-Controlled Loading

Every batch is tested against ASTM D5, D36, D92, D113, and D2042 before release, then loaded into insulated, heated tanks, flexitanks, jumbo bags, or steel drums at controlled temperature to preserve consistency from refinery to destination port.

WHY SOURCE THROUGH FSIIX

Three Pillars That Distinguish Our Bitumen

Consistent Penetration Grade

Continuous batch testing against ASTM D5, D36, and D92 holds every shipment within the 60–70 (0.1mm) penetration band, so contractors get the same binder performance load after load.

Refinery-Direct Supply Chain

Sourcing straight from refinery production, without intermediary re-blending, preserves the homogeneous composition and thermal history that keeps softening point and ductility within specification.

Flexible Global Logistics

Temperature-controlled handling and a choice of steel drums, jumbo bags, flexitanks, or bulk tanker and vessel loading let customers receive bitumen in whatever format suits their site and volume.

MARKET CONTEXT

A Structurally Growing Market

Global bitumen demand continues to expand alongside road-building and infrastructure programmes across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, with penetration grades such as 60/70 remaining the default specification for hot mix asphalt in temperate and warm climates.

PRICING IS QUOTED, NOT LISTED

Bitumen pricing tracks Platts and regional refinery FOB references, moves with crude feedstock costs and freight, and varies by packing format and destination, so we don't publish a static reference price here — anything printed on a page would likely be stale within days.
